Sagess 25 years of Managing<br />strategic oil reserves

Supply chain

Reliable and optimal logistics for storing oil products

The SAGESS supply chain takes into account multiple facets: quantity, quality and stock conformity. From product purchase to stock availability in the event of crisis, SAGESS logistics contributes to the reliable and safe management of storing oil products. For purchases, SAGESS responds to the national obligation in terms of distribution by type of product. The supply chain continues with the storage of oil products in 120 facilities and refineries, in accordance with a distribution plan annually approved at the interministerial commission of hydrocarbon plants (CIDH). It is then a matter of ensuring permanent maintenance of oil stocks according to the national obligation and in response to distribution among defense zones. This not only maintains the storage capacities of oil products, but it also ensures quality and the conformity of stocks by integrating regulations, allowing SAGESS to guarantee a timely release of oil stocks.

Logistics based on necessary stock renewal

Maintaining oil product quality and conformity impacts on storage periods and the frequency of stock rotations. To avoid any degradation of quality and to conform to changes in regulations, the operators guarantee SAGESS to follow-up on inventory rotation, key issue to managing oil stock storage. As crude oil is a fossil product, quality is not a problem, whereas refined products can age. It is necessary to ensure an adequate rotation of these products (with more frequent rotation for biocarburants). Contracts for storage are based on a guaranteed ability to store, on behalf of SAGESS, reliable and marketable products.
